When pediatric speech-language pathologist Alexis Cox decided to bring her practice online, she knew she didn’t just want another therapy website. She wanted a home…warm, joyful, intentional, and infused with the same play-based philosophy she uses in her sessions.

Alexis works with little ones (and their parents) navigating speech, feeding, language delays, AAC, and early developmental challenges. Her approach is whole-child focused and rooted in connection. She wanted a brand that felt inviting and uplifting, but still grounded and professional.

Enter: Homegrown Therapy, a bright, heart-forward identity designed to showcase transformation—in a way that feels friendly, modern, and rooted in growth.

The Goal: Build a Brand That Feels as Warm and Transformative as Her Work

This was the very first time I offered my new 2-day mini brand sprint—and it was an immediate win. Alexis needed something playful but not childish, meaningful but not overly metaphor-heavy. She wanted parents to feel reassured and kids to feel seen.

One clear visual anchor came up over and over: the butterfly.

For Alexis, the butterfly represents progress, growth, and the gentle transformation she guides families through. That symbol became the heart of her visual identity.

Our goal:
Create a brand and website that feel bright, encouraging, hopeful, and personal—something that would instantly stand apart from the typical clinical therapy sites and instead reflect the nurturing, hands-on feel of her practice.

The Branding Sprint: 2 Days

We built a mini brand suite that blended:

  • A bright, welcoming color palette inspired by childhood play and natural growth
  • A clean, neutral type system to balance the pops of color and maintain professionalism
  • A butterfly mark that subtly communicates transformation without feeling overly literal
  • Hand-drawn accents and organic shapes to reinforce a friendly, relational atmosphere

The result? A brand that looks like a hug feels… warm, inviting, calm, and quietly hopeful.

The Website Build: A One-Week Transformation

Once the brand foundation was in place, we spent a week turning her vision into a full Showit website experience. We started with my Jenny template and totally customized it to align perfectly with her new visual identity.

Pages included:

  • Home
  • About
  • Services
    • Speech Therapy
    • Feeding Therapy
    • Parent Coaching
  • Contact (with Calendly integration for seamless consult scheduling)

Plus, some custom touches I’m obsessed with:

  • Micro-interactions that animate on hover, bringing her illustrated elements to life
  • An animated flowing line motif inspired by her logo, woven softly through the design to mimic connection + progress
  • A bubble animation on the About page that plays off her brand photos and adds an irresistibly playful touch
  • Custom service icons (as animated GIFs”) designed for each of her offerings: speech therapy, feeding therapy, and parent coaching

This site is genuinely one of the cutest things I’ve ever designed, and somehow manages to balance charm with professionalism in a way that feels effortless. Truly, you’ve just got to see it for yourself to really experience all the fun details.

A Website That Grows With Her Clients

Homegrown Therapy now reflects exactly who Alexis is:

A caring, intentional, play-based therapist who believes progress happens best when kids feel safe, curious, and supported.

Parents visiting her site can instantly sense her warmth and expertise And scheduling a consultation couldn’t be easier. This project was a reminder of why I love thoughtful branding: when visuals reflect the heart of the work, everything clicks.
