I was today years old when I discovered that Showit had a Special Paste function, and let me tell you…it rocked my world.
After years of manually re-styling text like a mere peasant (lol), I found out I could just ‘paste’ style settings? Mind. Blown. And that’s just ONE of the hidden Showit tricks you probably didn’t know about.
If you’re tired of feeling like you’re only using 20% of Showit’s actual power while the cool kids are out here making pixel-perfect sites, get ready for these little-known Showit features that are about to change the game (and save you a ton of time).
1. Special Paste: The Secret Time-Saver
You know how annoying it is to copy and paste styles one by one? Yeah, well, Special Paste is the trick you didn’t know you needed. It lets you copy style settings from one element and paste them onto another without affecting anything else.
Bonus Pro Tip:
You can actually select multiple elements at once and paste styles across ALL of them at the same time. This is hands down my biggest time-saver in Showit. Over the course of designing a full site, this feature easily saves hours, if not days.
See this tip and more of my best Showit shortcuts in action in the video below…
2. Option + Double-Click: Unlock Hidden Text Styling Powers
Okay, this one is practically a secret handshake. If you Option + Double-Click on a text box (or Alt for Windows users), Showit lets you directly edit the HTML & CSS for targeted styling.
Why This is a Game-Changer:
- Normally, Showit limits you to one font per text box. But with this trick, you can manually add multiple fonts inside the same box.
- You can also tweak the spacing, color, or add other subtle design elements.
Not sure how this works? I made a quick YouTube tutorial on exactly how to do it: Watch it here. (Skip to 4:30 to watch this trick in action!)
3. Adjusting Transition Settings for Marquee & Motion Effects
You don’t need fancy plugins to get smooth-moving elements on your site. Showit has built-in transition settings that let you create effects like:
- Marquee scrolling text (hello, editorial vibes!)
- Subtle animations that make your site feel dynamic
Just play around with type, direction and timing to get Uber-smooth movement without slowing down your site.

4. Custom CSS Classes: Pinpoint Styling Like a Pro
Showit now lets you assign a custom CSS class to individual elements under the Advanced panel, which is a total game-changer. Instead of relying on global built-in styles, you can now target specific elements with pinpoint precision.
What This Unlocks:
- Fully custom styling for individual sections without affecting the whole site
- The ability to integrate custom animations from outside code libraries
- More creative freedom without workarounds or messy global edits
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could make just this one thing behave differently”…now you can.

5. Uploading Custom SVG Code for Editable Colors
PNG who? If you want your logos, icons, or design elements to look sharp on any screen, you need SVGs instead.
- They scale infinitely without losing quality
- They keep your site lightweight (AKA, fast loading!)
- You can directly upload SVG code and make the colors editable inside Showit (my fave feature!)
This is a huge perk if you sell templates like I do because it lets users customize icons and graphics to match their brand instantly, without needing any extra design software. I use this feature a lot on my Becca template! (Check the screenshot below!)

6. Canvas Views: The Most Underutilized Feature in Showit
I like to think of Canvas Views like slides, but way more powerful. Instead of cramming everything onto one page or one section, you can use them to swap out content dynamically, making your site feel interactive.
Creative Uses for Canvas Views:
- Clickable interactive maps (I built one for a photographer client to showcase destinations!)
- FAQ sections that reveal answers smoothly
- Portfolio pages where visitors can toggle between different categories
If you want to keep things clean but functional and interactive, Canvas Views are your new best friend.

Check the map out on Emily Brianne Photography‘s About page.
7. Hidden Click Actions for Seamless Navigation
If you want to create a super intuitive browsing experience, Showit lets you set up click actions that aren’t immediately obvious, but are so useful.
For example:
- Clicking on an image can trigger a hidden text box or sign-up form to appear
- You can create “lightbox-style” pop-ups for extra info without making a new page
- Buttons can scroll users to a specific section instead of opening a new page
Basically, you can design your site so you’re giving users exactly what they need before they even know they need it.
