Apart from your website or blog, social media is one of the best places to showcase your brand online. So how do you brand your social media accounts and ensure you make the right impression on your potential followers? Here are my best tips.

Your Social Profile

Whether you’re on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter or some other platform, the #1 thing you should keep in mind is profile consistency. You should have a standardized description, logo and profile image that all work together cohesively on all of the social media platforms that you engage on regularly. Typically, your profile is the first thing a potential follower may see, so it’s important to make sure you create an impression and that it’s very clear what your business and your brand are all about.

Pro tip: Take things a bit further by using relevant hashtags when appropriate or linking back to your website or your best freebie!

Your Post Graphics

Your brand should extend beyond just your profile. Make sure your post graphics have a consistent branded look. What does this mean? It means to use the same colors, fonts, and style of photography on all of your posts to create a memorable theme. This helps your followers to get to know your brand visually and helps you stick out in their mind. When they are scrolling through their feeds, you are more likely to stand out if they recognize your brand.

Pro tip: Use a tool like Canva or Photoshop to make your designs picture perfect. You can make 3-4 different style post templates that you can reuse again and again.

Your Content

Your brand isn’t all about your visuals. It’s also about the kind of content you share. If you consistently share helpful tips, articles, and videos, your followers will start seeing you as an authority and a go-to resource. What do you want to be known for in your niche? Blog (or vlog) about it! Don’t have time to blog? Curate your posts from other websites and blogs. Create an ebook or tip sheet. Then you can share this content in your posts and send people back to your website.

Pro tip: Use Google or Moz keyword tool to help you find hot topics in your niche that you can write content about and will ensure you are staying relevant to your followers.
