If you’re anything like me, you might find yourself looking for ways to save time while creating or updating your website.

And I’m sure if you’re reading this, you’re already aware of how crazy powerful AI can be in helping polish your website, copywriting, and business strategies. Before you start picturing robots taking over your workload or cringey, Chat GPT-coded content that includes words like “supercharge” and “unlocking”… don’t worry.

I’m going to show you 5 non-icky ways to incorporate AI into your website so you can save time and boost your marketing efforts in a way that authentically aligns with your unique brand voice and values.

Did you know that according to eMarketer, an estimated 100 million US people use generative AI at least once a month?

That’s a ton of people who are using AI to speed up their creative processes, quickly create quality content, and make more moves in their business – all by leveraging the power of AI copywriting

1. Brainstorming (with the help of ChatGPT)

AI-powered tools can be a game-changer when it comes to brainstorming content for your website. Whether you’re developing a new blog post, *finally* reworking your bio after 10+ years 😉, or injecting some target keywords into your already-written copy, AI can help spark new and creative ideas.

Instead of feeling stuck in a rut, these tools can provide a fresh perspective… that is, when you use them right.

Here are a few of my absolute favorite brainstorming prompts:

For identifying a Unique Selling Proposition:

Help me come up with a few different options for my hero section. I want to write a unique value statement for my website. I want to include the “what I do”, “who I do it for”, and the “why” (what my audience will ultimately get out of it / what they desire).

The statement should have personality and not just be a regurgitation of facts. And I want this to be very specific to my audience so they know they’re in the right place when they land on my site (Like I just stole the words right out of their head.)

For crafting a new bio:

I need to write an author bio for my blog. I want it to be roughly 3-4 sentences in length and capture my expertise in [insert topics]. It should be written in a [insert personality] tone. It should also include some things about me like [x, y, and z].

For writing your footer:

I need to write a one-sentence SEO blurb for my footer that describes my business in a nutshell. Can you give me a few options to choose from?

2. Writing SEO Blog-Posts

From topic generation to content optimization, writing search engine optimized blog posts can take a significant amount of time – especially as a solopreneur or small business owner.

That’s what makes using AI to streamline your process and save time all the more impactful. With the right prompts and tools, AI can help identify trending topics, refine your keyword strategy, and even analyze the readability and SEO performance of your posts.

Here’s how I approach blog writing with ChatGPT:

Help me write a blog on this [insert topic or title here].

I want to make sure that we cover [x, y, and z], butI need help filling in some details.  I also want to include my personal experience and expertise.

Ask me a handful of questions on [insert topic] that would help me inform the content of the post and make it unique to me.

Let’s also make sure that we optimize the headings and content for these SEO keywords: [insert keywords]

For the tone: I want it to be engaging, conversational, and interesting to read but also actually helpful and actionable. I like to add a bit of [insert personality trait], too!

Avoid jargon like: [insert examples]

Instead use phrases like: [insert examples]

Structurally, I want the information presented in the format that it will be most easily digested ie. paragraphs, lists, bullet points, etc. and let’s provide specific examples to provide readers with more context.

Lastly, let’s make sure to end with a call to action. Finish the blog with how I can help my audience as it relates to this topic.

Remember to give your AI tool context on the audience you’re writing for, your brand’s style and tone, and any other information that should be included.

3. Injecting Humor + Personality

Don’t underestimate the role that humor + personality can play in building lasting connections with your audience. This is especially important when using Artificial Intelligence for your website.

Could your copy easily be mistaken for a competitor’s? If so, it may be time to inject a bit more of your personality.

Here are a few fun ways I like to draw personality into website content:

  • Personality quiz results
  • This or That (coffee or tea drinker, morning person or night owl, etc.)
  • Favorite music or shows
  • Business “superpowers”
  • Headlines – this is where you have the most opportunity to add your own special flair and give your audience a sense of the real you

Here are a couple of my go-to prompts for finding opportunities for playfulness and personality:

PROMPT 1: My audience is interested in [insert interests here]. Write 4-5 fun + conversational sentences about me, given that I am [list interests, passions, hobbies, identities, etc.]

PROMPT 2: I’m having trouble with this headline. Can you help me brainstorm some alternate options that show my [insert type of] personality more? I want it to feel [x, y and z].

4. Proofreading + Editing

Let’s be honest – every website has been found with an accidental grammar slip up or typo (guilty as charged 🙋🏻‍♀️). This is where AI-powered proofreading and editing tools come to the rescue.

At K Design Co., we’re avid Grammarly fans, which is an AI-powered tool, btw.

By integrating AI into your editing process, you can ensure that your content is polished and professional without sacrificing valuable time (or sanity).

The best part is that tools like CopyAI and ChatGPT not only correct grammar and spelling no-no’s – they also offer style suggestions, which helps your website content shine.

5. Interactive Elements (hello, Chatbots)

As a personal brand, being accessible to your audience is crucial, but maintaining constant availability isn’t really practical. AI-powered chatbots like VideoAsk can help bridge this gap by providing lightning-fast responses to faqs, directing visitors to your best resources, and even personalizing interactions based on user data.

Personally, I use purchase pop-ups on my website to add some pizazz to my visitor’s experience and demonstrate social proof (to help with conversions).

Things to Consider when using AI

USING AI RESPONSIBLY

AI is powerful, which is why it’s important to use it responsibly. Avoid simply copy and pasting content generated by AI tools. Instead, view AI as a tool for your own creativity and learning. Incorporate AI-generated ideas in the same way you would after an inspiring conversation with a friend… as an exciting jumping-off point.

You wouldn’t take someone’s idea without adding your own personal touch and perspective, would you?

INJECTING YOUR TONE OF VOICE

As a woman-led, faith-led, or mission-led business, your brand’s tone of voice is a vital part of your identity. When using AI for content creation, ensure that any AI-generated content you use on your website aligns with and enhances your unique voice.

Whether it’s clever, warm, funny, or a bit sassy, your copy should always sound like you.

USING AI AS A TOOL, NOT A SOLUTION

Please hear me when I say that AI is not a one-size-fits-all solution. While it can streamline your processes and offer different perspectives, it’s important to remember that AI should complement and support your creative vision, not overshadow it. Embrace AI as a tool in your journey while still allowing your intuition, expertise, and own unique thoughts to be front + center.

Using ChatGPT and other AI tools doesn’t have to look like having a website full of generic, thoughtless content. They can create a space for a more engaged audience, more aligned business leads, and more time on your hands.
